Free game-download sites can expose children to unsafe launchers and files

What to do

• Do not download, extract, or run the launcher or game file.
• Use Steam or another official store and check that the publisher and game listing are genuine.
• If a child downloaded a file but did not open it, delete it and empty the Recycle Bin or Trash.
• If the file was opened, disconnect the device from the internet and ask a parent, teacher, or qualified technician for help.
• Change important passwords from a different clean device if the file was run, and review active sessions.
• Do not disable security software because a download page says it is required.
