Drawing the poster…

What the poster says, as text

Verify before you pay.

When payment details change, stop and confirm — on a number you already had.

Slow down when someone asks you to

  • Send money to a new account number
  • Pay an invoice you were not expecting
  • Buy gift cards for someone in charge
  • Keep the payment quiet or rush it through

Ring the person or company on a number you already have. Never the one in the message.

Your organization

Fill these in and they appear on the poster straight away — and on everything else you use here. Leave them blank and the poster prints with an empty box to write in.

Your logo stays on your own computer. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

The pattern this stops

Someone writes in, sounding like a supplier, a leader, or a colleague, and says the bank details have changed. The message often arrives near the end of the week, and it usually asks you to keep things moving quickly.

One phone call to a number you already had ends it. That call is never rude and never a waste of anyone's time.

Notes for whoever prints this

  • Add the name of the person in your organization who approves payments.
  • Two people approving anything unusual is a stronger protection than any poster.

Before you distribute this

  • Use it: Offices, finance areas, treasurer desks, and volunteer rooms.
  • Replace every bracketed placeholder with your organization's own details.
  • Open every web address yourself before printing it.
  • Current warnings live at watchout.report. Check the date on anything time-sensitive.
